LE CINQUE TERRE BY LAND & SEA 2 (FOOT & PRIVATE BOAT)
For the fit and adventurous, we have combined a day of exercise, history, unparalleled beauty by land and by sea! We will hike from Riomaggiore to Monterosso (about 4.5 hours!) and then reward ourselves with a 2-hour boat cruise enjoying some of the finest watering holes in Le Cinque Terre. Just with all our tours of Le Cinque Terre, the day will be filled with the history, culture and folklore of this magnificent area. Don-t forget to bring your bathing suits! Approximately 7-8 hours.

TRAILS & VILLAGES OF LE CINQUE TERRE
It is a fun, rewarding day where you will learn about the culture, Ligurian cuisine & wine plus the local gossip/folklore and get LOTS of exercise! A typical itinerary is as follows: We start at Monterosso, the most northern of the villages and work our way by hiking path to the picturesque Vernazza. This is nice place to stop for a dip in the sea, a little lunch of Ligurian delicacies and window shopping. From there we will train to the bottom of Corniglia and take a more leisurely & flat 1 hour hike passing through Manarola, Via del’Amore and ending in Riomaggiore. Approximately 7-8 hours.
LERICI, PORTOVENERE & THE GULF OF POETS
Lerici is known as the “Pearl of the Gulf of Poets” with its commanding fortress, quaint harbor and “tromp d’oeil” buildings. We consider Portovenere the top “Gem of Ligurian” with its dramatic position upon the sea and lively culture still characteristic on an old seafaring village protecting itself from pirates! We will “connect” the two with a short boat ride from Lerici to Portovenere and lots of fun stories and sights in between. This tour starts only from Lerici. Approximately 4 hours.
SAILING THE GULF OF POETS & BEYOND
Enjoy an incredible day on your own private sail boat! Your captain will take you from Bocca di Magra into the gorgeous Gulf of Poets to explore around the islands of Tin and Palmaria, then on to Portovenere or Le Cinque Terre and the open waters of the Mediterranean. A wonderful lunch, snacks and wine are served on board plus use of snorkeling and fishing equipment. Full day excursion leaving from Bocca di Magra. Approximately 8-9 hours.
COOKING & EATING “LIGURIAN STYLE”
Journey to a lovely village “casa” overlooking the Mediterranean Sea where you will learn to create and enjoy Ligurian cuisine. The 3 hour lesson is given by the fabulous Rossella, one of the most incredible cooks to bless Italian soil! (Note: translation in English is provided so you won’t be lost!) The lesson is followed by a 4-5 course meal prepared by the class. The dishes are delicious, healthy and simple to make when you return home. Total time is approximately 5 hours. July & August lessons begin at 5:00 PM, April, May, June, September & October lessons begin 10:30 AM.
“LA DOLCE VITA”: PORTOFINO, SANTA MARGHERITA LIGURE & MORE
Known as Italy’s resort of the rich and famous, explore the small village & port of Portofino and its surrounding area including the colorful town of Santa Margherita Ligure and the isolated and serene cove of San Fruttuoso. We offer this as a 1/2 excursion (3 hours) for those already in the Portofino area and as a full day excursion from Lerici/Portovenere/La Spezia. (7 hours)
Take a day to uncover one of Italy most underrated cities to find its glorious past, hidden beauty, interesting and authentic atmosphere. We will walk the “Strada Nuova” and see many of its beautiful palaces in elegant Ligurian architecture, explore the carruggi (little streets) of the old city, the exotic Mercato Orientale, visit the Palazzo Ducale and stroll along the seaside promenade for a look into Genoa’s thriving port and world famous aquarium. Genova is a true treasure and a great adventure! The tour itself lasts approximately 3.5 hours and then you have time to enjoy a nice meal in the port or even visit the aquarium.
CARRARA & COLANNATA
We start with a mid afternoon visit to the medieval village of Colonnata that is built between and on top of actual marble mountains. The village is famous for its “lardo”, also known as the “Butter of Tuscany”, and we will enjoy a light lunch of the local cuisine. Afterward, you will be given a tour and look into the an actual marble cave and learn about the incredible and hard work that goes into one of the most sought after natural resources in the world. Approximately 6 hours.
FORTE DEI MARMI FLEA MARKET & CARRARA MARBLE
We’ll start the morning with a drive down the coastal road of high above the Gulf of Poets then head down the old Aurelian highway to the famous Forte dei Marmi flea market where you can shop to your heart’s desire for good new, old and Indigenous products to the area. Then afterwards, we’ll head up to the Carrara marble mountains for a visit inside a working quarry. Approximately 7-8 hours, wednesdays only.
